AGUEDA CALDERÓN, 99, of Neptune, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2019. She passed away in her sleep at Coral Harbor Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Neptune, NJ.
Agueda was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She moved to Neptune, New Jersey in 1948 where she met Juan F. Calderón. The two went on to marry and lovingly raised 8 children. As a proud homemaker, Mom ran a tight ship and the home was her domain. Dad was the chef away from the house, Mom was the chef at home and her culinary skills were unsurpassed. As children, we remember the steak and egg breakfasts, triple decker sandwiches for lunch, and dinner was always a feast.
As we grew older, Mom’s house was the place to be for all celebrations. She taught us the meaning of respect and instilled the importance of family. Through the years, family gatherings continued however, family gatherings took place in the homes of various siblings.
Make no mistake, no matter where the family gathered, Mom was the matriarch, our “Queen Bee”. She was always surrounded by family up until the end. She went peacefully in her sleep, knowing she was loved and never alone.
In 1999, Agueda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Today she is basking in the presence of God’s love and glory.
She is predeceased by her parents, Jose Rivera and Marciala Vencibíl; siblings, Miguel, Olga, and Sara; husband, Juan F.Calderón; sons, Miguelito, Robert, Elliott, Richard; and daughter-in-law, Naomi.
Agueda leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Edwin, Edgar, John Jr., and Nelson Calderón; and one daughter Sandra Montañez; 5 daughters-in-law, Linda Silva, Denise Gardner-Calderón, Gloria Calderón, Martha Calderón, and Jenny Calderón; son-in-law, Teófilo Montañez; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
