Mae Owens Obituary

Mae Owens, 83, of Neptune, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Coral Harbor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Neptune, NJ.  She was born in Poulan, GA, on October 13, 1939, to Pauline Lyons and Wille Lee Person.

Mae's family relocated from Georgia to Asbury Park, NJ, in 1948.  She attended Asbury Park schools and graduated in 1958.

She was affectionately called "Miss Mae" by all.  Miss Mae loved her game shows and court shows and would watch for hours.  She was a member of the Optimistic Social Club and hosted card parties; she loved to dance and was full of life.  Miss Mae was a beautiful woman with grace and best described as being loving, kind, classy, fun, and stylish.  She loved cooking for her family.

She had lots of beautiful plants and had a green thumb for taking care of them.  She loved her oldies but goodies music too. She was elegant and meticulous with her appearance and home.  Everything had to be in order.

Mae was predeceased by her husband, Robert Owens; her parents, Pauline Lyons and Willie Lee Person; brothers, Notre and Nathanial Person; and sister, Josephine Douglas.

She is survived by her daughters, Meri Williams of Ocean, NJ, and Toni Grant of Tinton Falls, NJ, sisters, Lornell (Samuel) Cunningham of Asbury Park, NJ, Constance Johnson of Philadelphia, PA, Janice Douglas of Providence, RI, brother, Daniel Douglas of Midlothian, VA, and grandson, Cowan Williams of Neptune, NJ, and a host of relatives and friends.
