Larrick Daniels Obituary

Our beloved Larrick Edson Daniels was born to Thomas and Maxine Daniels on October 1, 1958. He was the fifth child of seven and the artist of the family. He graduated from Ocean Township High School in 1976 and enrolled in West Chester University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications in 1979. He returned to the Asbury Park area to work, after his graduation from college, and followed in his father and brother’s footsteps by becoming a 1981 initiate of the Asbury Park Neptune Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi.

In 1994 he earned a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Monmouth College and pursued his passion for educating the youth, by teaching in the Asbury Park School system, until his retirement in 2021. Over the course of his time as a teacher he earned grants for technology, initiated the spelling bee program for the elementary school children, and developed a four-week summer program for high school students. Outside of the classroom Larrick honed his artistic talents through the theater. In 1987 he started Le Noir Cabaret Productions, under the umbrella of Kap/Sig Theatre Group Inc. The company produced Black centered contemporary plays like Siboniso (Black Cinderella), a Black musical review spanning the 1950's to 1990's, and Moments in Love, which was their first major musical. The company continued to operate until about 1994, when his focus shifted to raising his children.

Larrick passed away on December 25, 2022. He is survived by his sons, Cherrick, Bryon, Charles, and Danny, and two daughters, Danisha and Breyonna, and four grandchildren, Donnie Jr., Breasia, Bailey, and Brooklyn, four brothers, Michael and his wife Lisa, Kevin and his wife KayKay, Daryl, and Raun, and a sister, Karen, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Maxine Daniels, and his sister, Danita and her husband Charles.
